Kate said the zoning workload has grown and that some mapping and permanent building-permit records can be relocated to the zoning department, though hard copies must be retained. She told commissioners that separating duties "will be a process" but would eliminate zoning compliance and meeting responsibilities from her appraisal work. The board agreed and directed staff to advertise for a Zoning Administrator position.
Commissioners also discussed storage and recordkeeping needs and asked staff to plan the physical move while preserving permanent records and digital copies as required by county record retention rules.
