Commissioners approve reduced dust-control plan, targeting fewer roads at half-rate

Public Works presented two dust-control scenarios for the 2026 season and the board selected a reduced, targeted approach to stretch a smaller budget.
Scott Kieffaber and Joe Gardner said Option 1 would have cut coverage on T 142-166 and left it without treatment, while Option 2 would apply a half-rate application on several low-household roads (listed by survey notation) and preserve full-rate treatment for main corridors. Scott explained that "half rate is half the amount that would normally be put on the road" and that the picks prioritize roads with fewer homes because budget constraints required reductions from last year’s proposal.
Commissioners agreed to implement Option 2 and removed 222 Q4-T from the dust-control list for 2026. Public Works will publish the finalized road list and schedule.
