County accepts 2024 audit; notifies intent to exceed RNR for 2026 budget

Emily Franks of Jarred, Gilmore & Phillips presented the Elk County 2024 audit at the July 14 meeting, reviewed findings and emphasized that department receipts must be brought to the County Clerk’s office or may be deducted from employee paychecks if not presented. Following discussion, Commissioner Perry Russell moved and Commissioner Jake Liebau seconded a motion to accept the 2024 audit; the motion carried 3-0.
Franks also presented the proposed 2026 County and Rural Fire budgets. After discussion, the board voted to notify the County Clerk of its intent to exceed the revenue-neutral rate at 113.950 for the 2026 County Budget; the motion carried 3-0. The commission scheduled a budget workshop for July 21 to work on reducing the 2026 budget prior to further action.
