EMS proposes AED purchases using Opioid Settlement funds

Alec Trembath, Clay County EMS Director, told the board the department had reached emergency run number 77 for 2026 and that EMS students recently completed hands-on testing while protocol testing is scheduled this week.
Trembath said Zoll offered a special on AED units and that Opioid Settlement funds sent to counties "can be used to purchase these units." He presented an estimate for four units at $1,495 each and suggested placing one at the Clay County Event Center, the ESA Building, Medic 1 and Medic 2. The board asked whether small communities already had AEDs; Trembath said he would check and report back next week.
