Clay County Medical Center reports birth increases, seeks $8–$10M rural health grant

Austin Gillard, CEO of Clay County Medical Center, told the board that the hospital delivered 73 babies in 2025 and is estimating 80 deliveries in 2026. "Clay County Medical Center delivered 73 babies in 2025 and are estimating the delivery of 80 babies in the 2026 year," Gillard said during his monthly report.
Gillard said he is preparing a State of Kansas Rural Health Care grant application for a total renovation of the former Advena Living facility, an estimated $8–$10 million project. He also reported staff growth at Clay Center Family Physicians with Nurse Practitioner Yana Bowen joining at the end of February, expansion in the physical therapy department with an Assistant Therapist to be added soon, and planned leadership training for CCMC employees over the next six months.
