Clay County accepts Ergon oil bid and approves $402,655.74 for 2026 chip sealing

Highway Administrator Bobby Shomper presented two bids for tack and sealing oils. After review, Commissioner Carlson moved to accept Ergon's bid for tack oil CSS-1H at $2.400 per gallon (we pick up) and sealing oil CRS-1HM at $2.425 per gallon (delivered); Commissioner Mayo seconded and the motion passed unanimously. The accepted prices will be used for procurement and scheduling.
Commissioner Mayo then moved to proceed with the county's 2026 chip sealing program at a cost of $402,655.74, to be paid from the Sales Tax Fund; Commissioner Carlson seconded and the motion passed unanimously. Shomper also summarized recent highway work: seasonal blading, ditch cleanup and tree removals on several county roads and staff mobilization for snow removal during the recent winter storm.
