County maintenance urges event-use agreement after Courthouse Square cleanup

Ryan West, County Maintenance, told the board that cleanup after the Christmas Festival required many hours because t-post stakes were left in the ground and on the grass, and crews found pieces of wire, zip ties and other trash that could damage mowers in spring. West also said people had been tampering with lamp-post timers and that part of the lighting now does not work.
Mr. West told the commissioners he supports requiring anyone using the Courthouse Square for an event to sign the county’s drafted event-use document to set expectations about cleanup and protection of grounds and equipment. The board did not record further formal action on the document during the meeting.
