LMIG bid opening set as county road crew addresses signs and potential new road grant

Bleckley County commissioners confirmed the Local Maintenance & Improvement Grant (LMIG) bid opening was scheduled for 11:30 a.m. on April 16, 2026. Commissioner Mike Davis announced the timing during the meeting and Ronnie Smith reiterated the bid-opening status and the possibility of an additional road grant.
Ronnie Smith described the road crew’s practice of collecting signs encountered while mowing rights-of-way and bringing them to the road department for pickup by owners. Smith said this happens routinely when crews encounter road- or yard-signs in the county right-of-way and that owners may retrieve removed signs from the road department. No formal action or award was taken at the meeting; the LMIG process and any subsequent grant decisions will follow the bid-opening procedures.
