Scott Nelson, Right-of-Way Specialist for the South Dakota Department of Transportation, presented a Joint Powers Agreement for a highway project from Exit 350 (SD25) to four miles west of Exit 364 and explained the county acknowledgment required for placement of a large box culvert. The Commission approved a motion authorizing Chairman Charles Liesinger to sign the Acknowledgment.
Later, Adam Polley of engineering firm IMEG and Highway Superintendent Travis Raap reported a minimal "sweep" issue with the girders on bridge #44-010-185. Polley said the condition is cosmetic and would not affect the bridge’s service life or load capacity; the contractor, Holloway Construction, described the issue similarly. The Commission voted (motion by Commissioner Chuck Mehlbrech) to proceed with the bridge project rather than requiring recasting of the girders.
