Residents press commissioners on rock quality, reduced rock budget and dust-control problems

Several residents noted the county spent about $1.7 million on rock last year but faces a smaller rock budget this year (around $1,000,000). Commissioner Keith Kelly said a proposed 0.05 sales tax on the August ballot could help increase road funding and estimated about 35% of that revenue would come from non-residents. Other public comments included frustration with dust-control treatment placement and grader operator performance; commissioners invited residents to sign up for township boards to help monitor local work.
