Jackson County Commissioners announced a plan to establish a representative group from each township to develop long-term road maintenance goals and meet quarterly with Road & Bridge. Chairman Mark Pruett said the county will meet with township boards and asked residents to sign up to represent their township.
At the 6:00 p.m. session, residents from Netawaka, Whiting, St. Creek, Liberty, Jefferson, Soldier, Grant, Garfield and Franklin townships and others discussed priorities including completing W Road (estimated 6.5 miles), equipment and operator concerns, and how to coordinate gravel and blade operations. Commissioner Kelly estimated finishing W Road would cost about $80,000 and encouraged sign-ups for township representatives.
