Board approves 2026 meeting dates, holidays and schedules alcohol ordinance adoption for January

Commissioner Charlton Gillis moved to approve the 2026 meeting dates and to have no regular meeting in December; Commissioner Johnny Durrance seconded and the motion carried. The board also approved the 2026 holiday schedule and voted to add Columbus Day to the holiday list. In a separate motion, the board approved closing offices at noon the day before Thanksgiving.
County Attorney Shea Browning presented an updated alcohol ordinance that adds wine; the board scheduled adoption of the revised ordinance for the January meeting. The board also agreed to keep employee incentives at $250 as approved in the budget and confirmed a county Christmas event scheduled for Dec. 18 at noon at the EOC Building.
