Chairman Parker Liles told commissioners that funds previously reported as grants for the county's water and sewer operations were actually loans and that some funds were structured as 50—50 grants and loans, a condition he said made it inadvisable for the county to assume the debt. Commissioners agreed and moved to transfer operations back to the City of Pearson effective Jan. 31.
Commissioner Charlton Gillis moved to turn water operations back to the City of Pearson on Jan. 31; Commissioner Buddy Willis seconded and the motion carried. The action completes the board's decision to remove the county from direct operation of those utilities and shifts operational responsibility to the city.
