The McCook County Commission voted on Sept. 24 to adopt the county’s 2025 annual budget (Resolution 2024‑13), approving total taxes levied of $4,526,877 and a county levy of 3.600 per thousand.
Auditor Geralyn Sherman led a review of the provisional budget before adoption and said the only change from the provisional document was a deduction of $27,725 from the County Health Nurse line tied to a pending agreement for $12,000 in professional fees; commissioners approved that adjustment. The commission voted to adopt the budget as the county’s annual spending plan for Jan. 1–Dec. 31, 2025, and the Auditor noted the adopted budget is available for public inspection at the county auditor’s office.
The adoption followed extended discussion of the ambulance budget and related city payments (see separate article). The resolution approving the annual budget (Resolution 2024‑13) was read into the record and carried by motion. The board signed the resolution and minutes were attested by Auditor Geralyn Sherman.
