McCook County approves 2025 health plan renewal as premiums rise 15.56%

Auditor/Welfare Director Geralyn Sherman told the McCook County Commission that the county’s 2025 Wellmark Blue Cross/Blue Shield renewal showed a 15.56% increase in the county plan. The board discussed but declined an outside proposal from Risty Benefits to solicit alternative group health quotes.
Commissioner Dean Koch moved and Commissioner Chuck Mehlbrech seconded a motion to approve renewal of employee health coverage with Wellmark BCBS and to retain Transamerica for GAP coverage; the motion carried. The county did not request further rate comparisons at this time.
