County sets Sept. 5 hearing for Rabenhorst driveway culverts

The McCook County Commission voted to set a drainage hearing at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5, to consider Drainage Permit Application D24-005 from Bryce and Madelyn Rabenhorst. Auditor Geralyn Sherman presented the application on behalf of Drainage Administrator Mic Kreutzfeldt, describing the project as "adding 2 48" x 40' culverts to driveway N of Pearl Twp easement" and backslope ditching 15 feet to the north.
Commissioner Steve Gordon moved to set the hearing and Commissioner Dean Koch seconded; the motion carried. The hearing was required because Pearl Township would not sign off on the permit application, leaving the County as the permitting authority for the dispute. The Board recorded the project legal description as SE4 23-104-56 and confirmed notice and hearing logistics will be set as indicated by staff.
The hearing will allow township officials, the applicants and any affected neighbors to present evidence and testimony before the Board of Adjustment. No final permit decision was made at the Aug. 13 meeting; the Commission limited its action to scheduling the public hearing.
