Public Works Director Mel Rohr asked the Trego County Commissioners for permission to solicit bids for a loader and updated the board on several vehicle maintenance matters at the May 29 meeting.
Rohr said a couple of county graders are "at the end of their warranty" and presented a Foley Equipment price for an extended warranty. He also shared a Bruckner Truck & Equipment estimate to repair a 2013 Mack semi but noted that the county’s mechanic "can do most of the repairs." The board granted permission to solicit bids for a loader and approved the request from the City of WaKeeney to have the county take their tractor to Hays for repair. Commissioners also authorized an employee to work on Sunday to finish grading old 40.
Rohr and the Commissioners briefly discussed the county’s funeral policy during the exchange. No capital purchase was finalized at the meeting; the board authorized the bid solicitation as a next step.
