Ward County court approves emergency budget amendments covering multiple funds

The Ward County Commissioners Court on Jan. 13, 2025 declared "an emergency has arisen and a grave public necessity exists" across several county funds and approved a set of 2025 budget amendments addressing the General Fund, Road and Bridge Fund, Farm-to-Market fund, multiple forfeiture and restitution funds, and county benefits accounts. The motion to approve the amendments was made by Commissioner Guy Thames and seconded by Commissioner Larry Hanna and was adopted unanimously.
The amendments include a $450,000 Green Repair line for the Ward County Golf Course and a stated decrease to General Fund expense of $558,885. Separately, the Building Construction/Renovation Fund included a $78,300 line item listed for a Senior Citizen Center renovation. The Court presented these adjustments as necessary to address expenses that could not be included in the county's original 2025 budget.
