Neodesha EMS matter tabled again; commissioners hire outside counsel FPS&S for legal review

Commissioner Jerry Scott moved to table the Neodesha EMS matter until the Nov. 19 meeting at 10:00 a.m., citing the need for legal consultation with County Attorney Brandon Cameron; Commissioner Andrew Miller seconded the motion and it carried. The board again postponed substantive action on EMS operations pending counsel review.
County Attorney Brandon Cameron recommended hiring Fisher, Patterson, Sayler & Smith (FPS&S) to undertake an independent review of EMS legal issues and to provide a neutral arbiter opinion report by next week. Commissioner Miller moved to obtain legal consultation services from FPS&S; Commissioner Scott seconded the motion and the board approved the recommendation. An executive session to consult with counsel occurred under K.S.A. 75-4319 for 10 minutes; the board reconvened at 12:15 p.m. with no action taken in open session.
