Board accepts 2025 financial statements with unmodified audit opinion

Finance staff presented the county’s 2025 financial statement audit and recommended the board accept the statements. Lucas, the finance representative, said the statements "were issued with an unmodified, opinion, meaning that, they're free of any kind of misstatements, that could've, been made to them." He said the statements had been submitted to the office of the secretary of state and that staff had applied for the Government Finance Officers Association certificate of achievement for excellence in financial reporting.
Commissioners thanked the finance department for the work involved in preparing the statements and the audit. A motion to accept the financial statements for the year ended 12/31/2025 was moved and seconded; the board approved the motion by voice vote. Lucas noted the full report (nearly 200 pages) would be posted online and staff will attach the electronic copy to the agenda packet.
