Winn Parish road superintendent reports storm cleanup, pothole work and LGAP opportunity for Old Alexandria

Road Superintendent Perry Holmes told the Winn Parish Police Jury that his crew had been up since 1:30 a.m. responding to storm damage, which included limbs, downed trees and one building roof that landed in a roadway. All roads were cleared and pothole patching is underway with help from two inmates provided by the sheriff’s office. Holmes said he will reassign a recently hired truck driver to learn mechanic duties as the current mechanic plans to retire.
Holmes also reported an available Local Government Assistance Program (LGAP) allocation that could support about 18,051 tons of material—sufficient, he said, to cover roadway work from Mimosa to the shooting range in the Old Alexandria area. He noted some school bus routes will be top priority for crews. Jurors expressed appreciation for the crew’s work and for individual crew members named in packets: Assistant Road Superintendent Paul Hodnett and employee Charles Myers.
