The application said the tower would provide wireless coverage to areas currently lacking service north of Rutledge and in portions of Hard Labor Creek State Park. The Planning Commission recommended approval and attached conditions: submission of an engineer’s letter confirming an appropriate fall zone with the building permit and a waiver of Chapter 7.26 landscaping requirements provided a tree buffer remains between the tower and Old Mill Road.
No members of the public spoke in favor or opposition at the Jan. 6 meeting. The Board approved the conditional use permit by motion, subject to the Planning Commission's conditions. Staff materials included a tower search area demonstrating no existing co‑location option for the planned coverage area.
