Etienne-Steib elected chair; Long chosen vice-chair of St. James Parish Council

At its Jan. 7 meeting the St. James Parish Council elected Vondra Etienne-Steib as chair and Courtney Long as vice-chair. Both elections were decided by roll-call votes with Neal Poche absent.
The Council of the Parish of St. James elected Vondra Etienne-Steib as chair and Courtney Long as vice-chair during its regular meeting Wednesday, Jan. 7, 2026. Etienne-Steibs nomination was placed by Councilman Todd Poche and seconded by Councilman Anthony Jasmin; a roll-call vote recorded six in favor with Councilman Neal Poche absent.
Courtney Long was elected vice-chair after Councilman Ryan Louque nominated her and Councilman Jasmin seconded. The roll-call vote for vice-chair showed Council Members Todd Poche, Courtney Long, Ryan Louque, Anthony Jasmin and Vondra Etienne-Steib voting in favor, Donald Nash voting against, and Neal Poche absent. The council congratulated both leaders before moving to other business.
