Troup County staff recommend Revise contract to meet ADA WCAG 2.1 AA deadline
Summary
County staff asked the board to authorize the county manager to sign a five‑year agreement with Revise to overhaul the Troup County website, citing an April 24, 2026 DOJ deadline to meet WCAG 2.1 AA accessibility standards and a quoted first‑year annual cost of $17,640.

Caroline Johnson, a county staff member, presented a proposal to modernize the county’s website and meet federal accessibility requirements.
“We have until 04/24/2026 to bring all web content into compliance with the web content accessibility guidelines, WCAG 2.1 double a standard for digital accessibility,” Johnson told commissioners and recommended contracting with Revise after demos with five companies. She said Revise guarantees WCAG 2.1 AA compliance, offers a department‑level contributing workflow to reduce staff bottlenecks, and provides scheduled compliance scanning and an accessibility widget.
Johnson said the recommended five‑year custom contract would cost $17,640 per year for the first five years (covering an estimated 20% of project cost and annual hosting/maintenance) and drop to $9,950 per year in year six for hosting and maintenance. She said the county lacks in‑house capacity to meet the DOJ rule without an external vendor and that the vendor had recently worked with the City of LaGrange. The board asked clarifying questions about contract length and hosting arrangements; staff indicated the item would be placed on the evening agenda for formal authorization of the county manager to sign.
