Fire officials report station planning, new truck delivery and life‑saving rescue at December structure fire

Jared Barnes, supervisor with Pottawatomie County Consolidated Fire, said planning continues for a new Emmett Fire Station and that Blue Township is exploring a new station in coordination with the City of Manhattan. He reported a new fire truck has been delivered but is not yet in service and announced a Wildland Fire Fighting refresher course scheduled for March.
Barnes also recounted a December structure fire in which a sheriff’s deputy rescued a person unable to escape the house; he presented the rescue as an example of interagency response. No procurement timelines or staffing numbers for the new stations were provided in the meeting.
