Convent water plant filters added; Dufresne says capacity could rise to about 2 million gallons per day

Parish President Peter Dufresne told the council the new clarifier at the Convent water plant has been brought online and samples were taken from the renovated clearwell. "Three of the six filters are now put in service," he said, adding that once approval is received the parish can begin processing water through those filters, "adding roughly half a million gallons per day to our capacity."
Dufresne said three additional filters are expected online within two weeks and estimated the total capacity would increase from approximately 850,000 gallons to 2 million gallons per day. He told residents the parish expects lab results and regulatory approval soon and advised patience while the department completes testing and formal approvals.
