Board approves Southern Oak bid for pickleball complex landscaping; staff notes grant conditions

The Troup County Board of Commissioners approved the final landscaping bid for the new pickleball complex and accepted the low bidder, Southern Oak Land.
Staff reported the project schedule shows turnover of the landscaping work around August 7 and said that landscaping and ground stabilization are required by the county’s commercial and nonresidential landscape ordinances. Staff also noted that the landscaping is part of obligations tied to a $2,200,000 grant and that the county will be subject to audit related to those grant conditions. “It’s also requirement of the of the $2,200,000 grant as well,” staff said on the record.
A motion to approve the landscaping bid was made, seconded and carried. Staff said they would coordinate submittals and compliance with the landscape ordinance and the grant conditions as the project proceeds.
