The Troup County Board of Commissioners approved a rezoning for 620 Old Hutchison Mill Road on June 17, 2025, moving the parcel from single-family medium-density to general commercial zoning.
Community Development staff summarized the application and recommended conditions, noting the parcel is approximately 9.625 acres and that the Troup County Zoning Ordinance requires a 50-foot buffer between general commercial properties and adjoining residential zones. The staff presentation also recommended prohibiting access from McGraw Road because it is a substandard road serving single-family residences. As staff explained: “The application is for 620 Old Hutchison Mill Road from single family medium density to general commercial.”
No members of the public spoke in opposition or support during the public hearing. A commissioner moved to approve the rezoning with the recommended conditions on second reading, the motion was seconded, and the chair announced the motion carried. Staff advised that significant deviations from the proposed lot configuration or acreage could constitute noncompliance with the rezoning approval.
The board’s approval implements the staff-recommended conditions; staff will monitor compliance with the specified lot configuration, buffer and access restrictions.
