The Troup County Board of Commissioners adopted a proposed FY2026 budget of $65,734,256 following a public hearing on June 17, 2025.
Finance staff presented the plan and highlighted that the figure represents roughly a 7.05 percent increase over the FY2025 amended budget. “So, now, our, current proposed FY 26 budget is $65,734,256,” the finance staff stated during the presentation. The staff summary noted the proposal includes 15 of the 35 positions requested by departments and retains a $300,000 line item carried over from the prior year in case subsidy obligations to AVR arise.
Commissioners asked for additional detail on revenue sources and charts for the millage hearing; staff said those materials will be provided in follow-up packets. The budget also reflects a cost-of-living increase for employees effective January 1 and the board approved moving forward with the consolidated resolution in the packet. After the hearing the chair called for a motion to adopt the budget and the board voted to approve it.
The adopted budget will proceed to the next required administrative steps; staff said they will present additional charts and revenue detail at the millage hearing and supply requested breakdowns to commissioners.
