Commission approves $25,616 change order for Taxiway Alpha design; DOT to reimburse

Airport staff briefed the commission on additional Department of Transportation design requirements for Taxiway Alpha and requested approval of a $25,616 change order to the design contract. Timothy Troy, airport staff, said the additional work was required after DOT reviewed the December 2024 design submission.
"After Banesha, our consultant, looked at it, $25,616," Troy told commissioners as he summarized the extra-design cost and said the airport enterprise fund would front the payment; DOT would reimburse the airport once paperwork is completed. He estimated construction phasing could require roughly "120 days," weather dependent, and noted the airport would remain open with some limited runway closures for short periods.
Commissioners asked about impacts during busy periods; staff said tenants and operators had been notified and that the airport would coordinate scheduling to minimize disruption. The board moved, seconded and approved the change-order expense and directed staff to proceed with the contractor bid process.
