Commission tables request to allow fireworks on county property pending liability review

The commission reviewed a request from the Minot Hot Tots and Honeybees to use county-owned property for a location to light off fireworks during baseball and softball games. Auditor/Treasurer Marisa Haman said she would need clarification from the North Dakota Insurance Reserve Fund (NDIRF) on liability exposure to the county if the request were approved. The commission voted to table the request until the Jan. 20 commission meeting (motion by Comm. Rostad, seconded by Comm. Schuler; roll call unanimous).
The minutes show the item was deferred pending the county's receipt of liability guidance from NDIRF; no approval or denial was recorded.
