Council adopts personnel pay-scale ordinance after withdrawn amendment

The St. Bernard Parish Council on Jan. 20 adopted Ordinance SBPC #2713-01-26 to amend the St. Bernard Parish Government personnel pay scale. Councilmember Gillis McCloskey moved to adopt the ordinance and Cindi Meyer seconded; the motion carried unanimously with Chair Fred Everhardt, Jr. casting a yea vote.
During debate McCloskey proposed an amendment to move “Journeyman Electrician” from Paygrade 5 to Paygrade 7 and to move “Electrician” from Paygrade 7 to Paygrade 5. That amendment was discussed and then withdrawn by McCloskey; the ordinance was subsequently adopted as originally introduced. The minutes show the Personnel Board recommended approval on Dec. 10, 2025 (Summary No. 4330). The motion to adopt the ordinance was recorded as unanimous.
