Ashley Hand, director of local government services at the Mid‑America Regional Council (MARC), told Miami County commissioners that MARC provides a range of services across the nine‑county region, from convenings and capacity building to technical assistance for planning and grants administration. “It is your elected officials that sit on our board and help direct the functions of our organization. We have no authority, so we work through convening and collaboration,” Hand said.
Hand highlighted several services that could help Miami County: a free regional jobs board, a new open data portal and a salary survey tool with the first year waived to encourage participation. She said MARC offers planning and project management support for smaller communities that lack in‑house capacity and is exploring cooperative purchasing and procurement tools to save time and money for member governments. Hand provided contact information and offered to follow up with staff.
