Parish council approves rezoning for Violet storage facility

The St. Bernard Parish Council voted Jan. 6 to adopt Ordinance SBPC #2712-01-26 (Docket Z-2025-015), approving a zoning change that will allow a storage facility at 7903 E. St. Bernard Highway in Violet.
Councilmember Cindi Meyer moved the ordinance, seconded by Councilmember Ryan Randall; the motion passed with YEAS from Councilmembers Cusimano, Moran, Meyer, Randall and Mones and the Chair casting his vote as YEA. Councilmember McCloskey was recorded absent. The Planning Commission had recommended approval on Dec. 9, 2025, and “no one appeared to speak for or against this item” at the public hearing, according to meeting minutes on file with the Clerk of Council.
The ordinance changes the property’s zoning designation from C-1 (neighborhood commercial) to I-1 (light industrial). Copies of the full ordinance are available at the Clerk of Council’s office. The council took no additional action on conditions or amendments at the meeting; the adoption was declared effective Jan. 6, 2026.
