Parish Engineer Eric Hudson reported the application for a BUILD grant for Phase 1 of the East/West Corridor has been submitted in the amount of $25,000,000.00. He also presented photo updates on Winfield Road jack-and-bore work and the Smith Road Bridge construction and said pre-bid and progress meetings are ongoing on related projects.
Parish Administrator Dr. Ken Ward told jurors he, Glenn Benton and Keith Sutton visited Speaker Mike Johnson's office, Senators John Kennedy and Bill Cassidy, and the Louisiana Department of Transportation and Development as part of advocacy for the BUILD application and other federal priorities. Dr. Ward said he "gathered information from the sessions for many different aspects of local government," and he noted FEMA reimbursement updates and NEPA permit changes under consideration.
