Court records show bank-stabilization project completed; parish, levee district split ~$700,000 cost

Parish Engineer Eric Hudson presented photographs of erosion at the Red Chute Bank near Caplis Sligo Road and said the bank began eroding about two years ago. He described the work as a joint project with the Bossier Levee District and told jurors that "the parties each [are] contributing 50% of the total project cost of approximately $700,000.00." The jury accepted the Certificate of Substantial Completion and authorized execution of related documents (motion by Lynn Beaty; seconded by Keith Sutton).
Parish Attorney Patrick Jackson asked about temporary cones at the road bend and suggested considering more permanent guard rails; Hudson said the highway department will add guard rails to ensure public safety. A two-year maintenance bond is in place for the project.
