Police Jury condemns multiple blighted properties, grants 30‑day extensions in other cases

Bossier Parish Property Standards Officer David Ghormley presented several property‑standards cases Feb. 4 that resulted in a mix of condemnations and deadline extensions.
Ghormley recommended condemnation of three Haughton properties (1061 Mack Drive, 1090 Mack Drive and 1065 Mack Drive) after photographs from Oct. 2025 through Feb. 4, 2026 showed no improvement and the owner said he lacked physical or financial ability to remediate. Jurors approved an en globo condemnation motion (mover: Glenn Benton; second: Julian Darby) with unanimous votes.
Other cases resulted in extensions. Gerald Teutsch, representing his mother regarding 201 Longhorn Drive, said winter storm damage and equipment problems delayed cleanup but that the property would be brought into compliance within a week; jurors granted a 30‑day extension. Owner Jeff Buchan of 97 South Meadow Lane explained that his work schedule and single‑parent responsibilities delayed work but that he had begun cleaning and would draw down pool water; jurors granted a 30‑day extension. Julie Hall, owner of 1301 Gray Lake Drive, reported significant improvement after hospitalization and asked for 30 days to finish removal of vehicles and trailers; jurors approved an extension. For 3222 Heatherbrook Drive, the jury voted to condemn the property contingent on confirmation the Bossier Parish Sheriff’s Office had closed any ongoing investigation related to a structure fire noted by Chief Robert Roe.
All motions were recorded with unanimous or near‑unanimous juror approval and public comment was limited to owners or representatives requesting extra time to comply.
