Residents tell Greene County supervisors VDOT maintenance is inconsistent; Turkey Ridge Road cited as unsafe

"I don't understand why stuff like this can't be cleaned up," resident Larry Epper told the board, describing three dump-truck loads of rocks left on South River end of Turkey Ridge Road and saying he spent 45 minutes clearing them. He described heavy weekend tourist traffic, plugged pipes, and "washboard" road surfaces that, he said, now affect 20'30 mailboxes where only a few families lived decades ago.
Other residents, including Carolyn Eppert, echoed concerns about delayed VDOT follow-up after reported grading requests. Board members acknowledged widespread complaints countywide and discussed creating a centralized log for road complaints, directing staff to coordinate with VDOT maintenance and to schedule graders and canopy trimming where needed. The board asked staff to assemble a prioritized list of specific sites so officials can provide citizens with an accountable schedule of maintenance work.
