The Monroe County Board of Commissioners voted to accept $30,000 in additional planning funds from the Southeastern Michigan Urban Area Security Initiative (UASI) planning board for FY2024.
Bradley Smith, interim emergency management director, requested the acceptance in a written communication. Commissioner Asper asked whether the award was retroactive; finance staff Sue responded, “It’s not,” and clarified that UASI grants can be numbered in ways that make the year labeling confusing. The board approved acceptance by roll call with all present voting yes.
