County approves gravel trailer, culvert and moves to bid major road preservation work

At its May meetings, the Roosevelt County Board approved several road and infrastructure items and directed staff to prepare larger preservation work. The Road Department received approval to buy a gravel trailer for the McCabe area at a cost of $37,200.00, and the board approved a culvert purchase for Road 2049 from True North Steel for $20,570.72.
Interstate Engineering presented Task Order 15 to prepare a Growth Policy update (estimated budget $30,000) and advised commissioners that a scrub-seal treatment is recommended for approximately 8 miles of McCabe Road (24 to 26 feet wide) with spot repairs prior to application. Commissioners agreed to proceed with preparing a bid package for the scrub seal work; the formal contract award will be considered at a future meeting.
The Road Department also received authorization to go out for bids for 20,000 tons of crushed gravel at the Picard pit; those bids will be evaluated in a subsequent meeting. Commissioner Doug Marrottek moved to approve the bid-authorization and related purchases as recorded in the meeting minutes.
