Jordan Dettmer (Penco) and Justin Mermis, Public Works Director, briefed the commission on multiple public-works items, including a ditch one mile south of Luray and a fiberglass bridge on 15th Street needing a patch. Mermis told commissioners that Russell County has 193 bridge inspections due in March and that federal changes requiring additional data on each bridge inspection will probably double last year’s cost.
The board asked Dettmer to obtain cost estimates for replacing a structure west of Lucas and directed Mermis to provide the bridge-inspection contract within the next two weeks. The minutes record that the county will consult landowners and the County Attorney, Dan Krug, regarding the ditch repair plans.
