Staff asked the board to approve reverting Patrick County Fire and EMS to a non‑transport agency to keep the agency number active for ALS intercepts, mobile health licenses and pharmacy services. "I'm asking that we go back to a non transport agency that keeps our agency number alive," the presenter said, adding that the change would require board approval and would preserve licensing and the ability to support volunteer responders. The board noted the item was presented as a facilities report and deferred any formal vote to the February meeting so legal and procedural requirements could be confirmed.
Staff also said they expect the county pharmacy and central supply to continue supporting volunteers and noted volunteers handled more than 1,800 calls last year. The report emphasized continuing community support for EMS operations as the county transitions following the hospital reopening.
