Patrick County approves $11,850 to wire county generator for emergency operations center

Presenting the proposal, Scottie Castle said the county already owns the generator and that no new equipment purchase was required: "This proposal will request approval to allocate $11,850 from existing EMS budget funds to contract for the necessary electrical wiring and system set up required to connect and integrate the county owned 48 kW Generac generator with the building." He said using an existing asset would avoid unnecessary capital expense and enhance emergency preparedness.
Board members asked technical questions about fuel and service. Staff said the system will use propane and noted the generator is already under a service contract. The board moved and approved the allocation by roll call; one supervisor was not present for that vote. Staff said the lower installation bid met requirements and recommended awarding the installation to the lower bidder.
