Hanover County honors students at recognition night and senior showcase

Board members and district leaders spent part of the April 14 meeting recognizing student and staff achievements across the division. Dr. Penicuff and school principals named winners of the Virginia PTA Reflections program, DECA and HOSA state competitions and VHSL championships; individual students from Attlee, Bell Creek, Hanover High, Mechanicsville High and other schools were called forward and applauded.
Principals then introduced senior showcase honorees from each high school, describing leadership and community contributions for students such as Noah Hagberg, Natalie Wilkin, JJ Parker, Savannah Ford and others. The board noted the REB Award for distinguished educational leadership and a $30,000 Community Foundation grant attached to that recognition. Members asked that the recognitions be publicized to celebrate student success ahead of graduation.
