The Greater Lowndes Planning Commission on Jan. 26 recommended rezoning a roughly one‑acre parcel at 7270 Old Valdosta Road from Estate‑Agricultural (E‑A) to Low Density Residential (R‑1) to align existing uses with zoning standards.
Lowndes County Planner JD Dillard told commissioners the parcel fronts Old Valdosta Road (a county local road) and that surrounding land uses and lot sizes supported R‑1 despite the Future Land Use Map identifying the area as Agricultural. Applicant Christie Bullard said she inherited the property and intends to clean up the site and either repair or replace the dwelling.
There were no public objections. Commissioner Vicki Rountree moved to recommend approval as presented by staff; Commissioner Franklin Bailey seconded and the motion carried 8‑0.
