A commissioner described the plan to place roughly 24 sensors around school buildings to cover blind spots and to alert staff if a person’s heartbeat stops. "It's a way to prevent, opioid overdose and is in line with the allowable category," the commissioner said. The resolution document and staff presentation requested the funds specifically for purchase and installation of the specified sensors.
County officials did not discuss vendor contracting details or installation timing in open session; the commission recorded that the expenditure is authorized and the purchase may proceed through the county procurement process. The next procedural step is execution of purchase orders and scheduling installation with the school district.
