Jefferson County commissioners voted to authorize submission of the 3800 East improvement project to the Local Highway Technical Assistance Council (LTAC) for prioritization and funding consideration.
A county staff member explained that reclassifying 3800 East in the transportation plan is needed to qualify for a specific grant. When the resolution was read aloud, a commissioner recited the key figures in the draft: “the estimated total project cost is $4,899,500 and the total construction cost is estimated to be $3,631,500,” and noted an LTAC construction cap of $3,000,000 that would leave the county responsible for roughly $631,500 in over-cap construction costs; the total estimated county contribution was read as about $944,771.
Commissioners also discussed potential offsets including impact fees from developers and possible phasing of work. After discussion, the board moved, seconded and approved Resolution No. 2026-13 by roll call, authorizing the chair to execute the grant application subject to available appropriated funds.
