Smithfield maritime rendezvous, drone show and summer events set for mid‑June

Assistant county administrator told the board that Smithfield and Isle of Wight County will host the Smithfield Maritime Rendezvous June 12–14 and that commemorative programs and a weekend schedule have been distributed. The county will be a host harbor and the event falls between larger regional events in Norfolk and Portsmouth.
Staff said a drone show is planned Saturday night at Windsor Castle Park and advised attendees to arrive early (around 8 p.m.) and bring chairs or blankets; professional parking personnel will manage the event. The county is promoting the program on its website and in printed materials at businesses and county offices.
