Houston County approves three special-exception home‑occupation permits, county cautions about private covenants

Chief Building Inspector Tim Andrews presented Special Exception Applications #2782, #2788 and #2790. After a public hearing in which the applicants were present and there was no opposition, the board approved the three special exceptions "to include any and all stipulations as noted on the Zoning & Appeals recommendation and Section 95 Requirements staff report." The approved applicants were listed in the motion as Paul Smith Landscaping & Property Management (#2782), Joo Young Lee Computer Repair & Tech Support (#2788), and Norse & Ashley Hutchens Short-term Rentals & Property Management (#2790).
County Attorney Tom Hall advised applicants and the public that board approval does not override private neighborhood covenants. Hall said such covenants "are not superseded by any action the Board of Commissioners takes," meaning approved applicants may still be limited by private restrictive covenants. Andrews instructed approved applicants to proceed to the Commissioner's Office to apply for a business license as the next administrative step.
