Engineer reports pit pumping delay and potential quarry site; board approves payroll and claims

County Engineer Ryne Thornburg briefed the board on secondary roads matters, telling supervisors that Bruening Rock Products had started pumping out the pit but ran into mechanical problems that have delayed work. Thornburg said three cores were drilled at the county farm, with tentative results showing one of two areas may have potential for a future quarry site. A planned re-grade southeast of Douds is temporarily on hold so blade crews can work in their blade districts.
On a motion by Meek, seconded by House, the board approved payroll (#44249-44336), claims (#2402-2487), and Secondary Roads claims (#30300-30322). The oath of office for the medical examiner (Felegi) was administered. The board also acknowledged receipt of several Manure Management Plan updates from local facilities.
